Power the device off, remove the old coil or pod, and seat the exact replacement correctly.
Do not fire the replacement yet. Complete the maker's startup procedure after the physical installation.
The correct path depends on whether you have a tank, fixed-coil pod, replaceable-coil pod, or all-in-one device.
Identify the Replacement System First
A vape coil can be a removable metal head or a permanent part of a pod. These designs are not interchangeable.

Aspire sells Flexus Pro pods in both replaceable-coil and non-replaceable versions. The outer product family alone does not identify the replacement path (Aspire, 2026).
Check Coil Compatibility Before Installation
A coil that appears to fit may still have the wrong contacts, seals, resistance, or supported power range.
Match every available identifier:
- Device and tank or pod model.
- Exact coil family name.
- Product generation or revision.
- Resistance printed on the coil or package.
- Supported power range.
- Fixed-coil or removable-coil pod type.
- Seal and key orientation shown in the manual.
Do not rely on diameter, color, or resistance alone. Two coils can share an ohm value without sharing a housing or contact layout.
Manufacturer compatibility can also differ inside one product family. OXVA lists its XLIM Top Fill 0.4-ohm cartridge for a narrower device set than several other XLIM cartridges (OXVA, 2026).

Do not install a coil with a torn seal, bent contact, damaged thread, loose part, or contaminated wick.
Before Removing the Old Coil
Prepare a stable, washable surface. Keep paper towel nearby because used coils retain e-liquid.
Then complete these checks:
- Turn the device off.
- Disconnect the tank when the manual permits it.
- Let the coil and device cool.
- Check whether the reservoir must be empty.
- Close liquid control only when the manual identifies one.
- Wash and dry your hands.
- Keep the correct replacement beside the device.
Do not force a warm, stuck coil. Heat, cross-threading, dried liquid, or a swollen seal can increase resistance.
Use the stuck tank or coil guide if normal hand pressure does not release the part.
How to Change a Push-Fit Tank Coil
Push-fit coils use seals and a keyed or flat section instead of a threaded connection. The exact access point varies by tank.
Innokin describes the Zenith II as a push-pull system. It distinguishes that path from coils which screw into the tank base (Innokin, 2024).
Use this general replacement sequence:
- Empty the tank when its manual requires it.
- Remove the tank from the powered device.
- Turn the tank upside down if directed.
- Remove its base or coil-access cap.
- Grip the old coil by its metal housing.
- Pull it straight out without twisting nearby parts.
- Wipe the coil opening and inspect the seals.
- Align the replacement's flats, keys, or tabs.
- Press the coil in until it sits fully flush.
- Refit the base without pinching a seal.
Stop if the new coil sits proud of the opening. Recheck its orientation and part number instead of applying more pressure.
How to Change a Screw-In Tank Coil
Threaded coils usually attach to the removable tank base. Some attach inside the tank body, so confirm the manual first.
- Empty and detach the tank as directed.
- Turn the tank upside down.
- Unscrew and remove the base.
- Hold the base, then turn the used coil counterclockwise.
- Wipe the base and inspect its threads and seals.
- Place the new coil squarely against the thread.
- Turn it backward slightly until the threads settle.
- Screw it in with light finger pressure.
- Reassemble the tank without overtightening it.
The coil should tighten smoothly and sit evenly. Back it out if the thread catches, tilts, or needs unusual force.
Cross-threading can damage the coil and base. Overtightening can flatten a seal or make the next replacement difficult.
How to Replace a Fixed-Coil Pod
A fixed-coil pod has no serviceable coil head. Replace the complete cartridge when the coil reaches the end of its useful life.
- Turn the device off.
- Remove the pod using its release or normal lifting direction.
- Wipe condensation from the device bay with a clean tissue.
- Inspect the contact pins without pressing or prying them.
- Confirm the new pod's model, version, and resistance.
- Install the pod in its intended orientation.
- Check that magnets, clips, or friction points hold it evenly.
Do not cut open a sealed pod or pull its built-in coil. That can damage the reservoir, seal, and electrical connection.

How to Change a Replaceable Pod Coil
Replaceable-coil pods separate the plastic reservoir from the coil head. The coil can be push-fit, threaded, or held by a removable base.
- Turn the device off and remove the pod.
- Empty the pod when its manual requires it.
- Open the coil access point or remove its base.
- Pull or unscrew the old coil by its housing.
- Clean the opening and check each seal.
- Match the new coil to the listed family and resistance.
- Align its flats or thread with the pod.
- Seat it fully without forcing the plastic reservoir.
- Refit any base or cap.
- Reinstall the pod only after the physical fit is complete.
Check the fill plug while the pod is out. Replace the pod if its plug, plastic body, or sealing surface is damaged.
How to Change an AIO Vape Coil
An all-in-one device can place its coil inside a removable pod, tank section, or dedicated base. Access is model-specific.
Some AIOs expose the coil only after the pod is removed. Others use a locking base that must turn to a marked position.
Use this order:
- Turn the AIO off.
- Remove the pod or reservoir section.
- Open the coil access point shown in the manual.
- Remove the coil or coil base in the stated direction.
- Clean and dry the contact area.
- Install the supported replacement in the correct orientation.
- Lock the base or cap completely.
- Reinstall the reservoir without trapping a seal.
Do not treat every AIO as a pod system. A hidden cap, lock, or base can change the removal path.
For a Sensis EZ connection error, Innokin advises checking pod contacts and coil insertion. It also says to check that the resistance is supported (Innokin Support, 2026).
What to Do After the Coil Is Installed
Physical installation is complete when the coil is flush, seals are seated, and all parts close normally.

After completing those separate procedures, confirm these points:
- The device exterior and contacts are dry.
- The tank, pod, or base closes evenly.
- No seal protrudes from a joint.
- The device recognizes a stable, supported resistance.
- The selected power stays inside the coil's printed range.
Stop if the displayed resistance differs greatly from the label. Also stop if the reading jumps while the device rests.
Problems After a Coil Change
Start with the physical fit. Do not increase power to solve a connection or seal problem.

Avoid these errors across all device types:
- Buying by resistance without matching the coil family.
- Pulling a coil from a fixed-coil pod.
- Opening a full tank without checking its design.
- Reusing a cut, swollen, or missing seal.
- Forcing a keyed push-fit coil in the wrong direction.
- Starting a threaded coil at an angle.
- Overtightening a coil, base, or cap.
- Leaving e-liquid on electrical contacts.
- Firing before the maker's startup process is complete.
When a new part does not fit with normal pressure, stop. The wrong replacement is more likely than a device that needs force.
