Vape tank glass usually cracks from impact, side pressure, damaged seals, overtightened hardware, or sudden temperature change, and a cracked tube needs replacement.
The glass is part of the liquid seal. Even a short hairline crack can spread when the tank heats, cools, or gets tightened.

Most failures start with mechanical stress. The visible break can appear later than the event that began it.

Borosilicate glass resists heat and chemical attack better than common glass. Resistance does not make a thin tube immune to impact or poor fit.
Corning explains that borosilicate glass has low thermal expansion and good thermal-shock resistance. It also warns that rapid temperature changes can still cause breaks (Corning, 2026).
Do not assume every clear tank is borosilicate. Check the maker's product page or replacement listing for the stated material.
Stop Using Cracked Tank Glass
Turn the device off. Do not fire the coil to warm or empty the tank.
Remove the tank from the box mod only when the connector is cool and dry. Keep the tank upright over a tray.
Wear eye protection and cut-resistant gloves when glass is loose or shattered. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
Drain liquid through the tank's approved fill opening when possible. Do not pour liquid through broken edges.
Discard liquid that contains visible glass, dirt, or seal fragments. Do not filter it for reuse.
Place broken pieces in a rigid puncture-resistant container. Follow local waste rules for glass and nicotine-contaminated material.
Do not glue a crack, cover it with tape, or keep vaping until the next refill. Adhesive does not restore the tube's fit or strength.
Find a Compatible Replacement Tube
Tank glass is not universal. The product name alone can also be incomplete because makers release several sizes or revisions.
Confirm these details before ordering:
- Read the exact tank model from its packaging or manual.
- Identify the version or generation.
- Check standard or regional capacity.
- Match straight or bubble tube shape.
- Compare the maker's replacement part number.
- Confirm whether new O-rings are included.
Vaporesso lists replacement tubes by exact tank and capacity. Its store also warns that one VM Tank 22 tube does not fit the VM Solo 22 kit (Vaporesso, 2026).
That warning captures the compatibility problem. Similar names and matching diameters do not prove the edge profile or height is correct.
Check whether the original tube was straight or expanded. A bubble tube can increase capacity, but only when the tank maker lists it.
Do not force a slightly short tube between the hardware. Compressing the seals to make it fit can load the glass edges continuously.
Straight and bubble glass are not direct substitutes
A straight tube keeps one diameter from top to bottom. A bubble tube widens through the middle to add liquid capacity.
Both shapes can fit one tank when the maker lists both options. The top and bottom sealing edges must still match exactly.
Capacity labels can vary by market. A regional kit can use a shorter chimney, insert, or different tube even when the tank name looks unchanged.
Compare product codes instead of relying on a seller photo. Ask the tank maker or an authorized seller when the listing omits the version.
Protective metal sleeves also change compatibility. A tube designed for an open frame can be too wide for a sleeved tank.
Keep the old tube packaging after installation. Its part number gives you a reliable reference for the next replacement.
Inspect the Tank Before Reassembly
New glass will fail again if a metal part or seal sits crooked. Clean and inspect the empty tank before fitting the tube.
Use the stuck tank or coil guide if a base or cap will not release with normal hand pressure.
Check these parts under bright light:

- O-ring grooves for glass chips or dried liquid.

Replace bent metal hardware instead of straightening it around new glass. A distorted frame can transfer side load into the tube.
How to Replace Vape Tank Glass
Follow the tank manual when its order differs. Work on a tray that can catch small seals and fragments.
- Turn off the device and remove the tank.
- Drain the tank through its normal opening.
- Remove the coil if the manual requires it.
- Unscrew the tank base and top hardware.
- Lift away the damaged glass without twisting it.
- Remove every loose fragment from the seals and grooves.
- Clean washable metal parts as the manual permits.
- Let every part dry fully.
- Fit sound O-rings in their correct grooves.
- Press the new glass evenly onto the seals.
