Overview
The Dr. Dabber Switch² is a premium e-rig featuring induction heating technology. Unlike traditional coil-based devices, the Switch² uses electromagnetic fields to heat inserts directly, providing cleaner flavor and more even vaporization.
This manual covers setup, operation, heating modes, app connectivity, and maintenance for optimal performance.

Understanding Induction Heating
The Switch² uses induction heating rather than traditional coils:
How It Works
- Electromagnetic coils in the base create a magnetic field
- The field induces electrical currents in the insert's metal components
- These currents generate heat directly in the insert
- An infrared sensor monitors actual insert temperature
Benefits
- Even heating: The insert heats uniformly for consistent vaporization
- No coil contact: Concentrates never touch heating elements
- Better flavor: Cleaner vapor path preserves terpene profiles
- Temperature accuracy: Infrared sensing provides precise control
Insert Compatibility
Only official Dr. Dabber inserts work with the Switch² induction system:
| Insert | Material | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz (included) | Pure quartz | Balanced flavor and heating |
| Sapphire Plus | Lab-grown sapphire | Maximum flavor, easy cleaning |
| Titanium | Medical-grade titanium | Fast heating, dry herbs |
| ALN | Aluminum nitride | Premium heat retention |
Third-party inserts may not heat properly.
Heating Modes
The Switch² offers three dynamic heating profiles:
Descent Mode
Replicates traditional torch dabbing:
- Starts at your set temperature
- Gradually decreases (1°F per second)
- Mimics natural banger cooling
- Best for: Traditional dabbing experience
Ascent Mode
Perfect for cold starts:
- Begins at a lower temperature
- Gradually increases to your set temperature
- Preserves terpenes through slow heating
- Best for: Flavor enthusiasts, live resin
Steady Mode
Maintains consistent temperature:
- Holds your set temperature throughout the session
- Predictable, repeatable results
- Best for: Consistent dosing, sharing
Changing Modes
Without app: Click the power button 3 times to cycle through modes. LED color indicates current mode.
With app: Select heating mode directly from the app interface.
Temperature Settings
Temperature Range
The Switch² operates from 250-650°F:
| Range | Temperature | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Low | 250-400°F | Maximum flavor, live resin, terpene preservation |
| Medium | 400-500°F | Balanced vapor and flavor |
| High | 500-650°F | Maximum vapor, thick concentrates |
Setting Temperature
Without app: Use button controls for preset temperature levels.
With app: Set precise temperature in single-degree increments from 250-650°F.
Temperature Recommendations
- Live resin, rosin: 350-450°F (Ascent mode)
- Shatter, wax: 450-550°F (Steady mode)
- Thick concentrates: 500-600°F (Descent mode)

Usage Instructions
Loading Concentrate
- Power on the device (5 clicks)
- Remove the carb cap
- Use the Drop tool or dab tool to load concentrate
- Place concentrate directly on the insert surface
- Start with a rice-grain sized amount
- Replace the carb cap
Tips:
- The Drop heated tool helps with sticky concentrates
- Do not overload—excess concentrate can overflow
- Room temperature concentrates are easier to handle
Taking a Dab
- Ensure concentrate is loaded and carb cap is in place
- Select your temperature and heating mode
- Double-click to start a session, or hold the button for manual heating
- Wait for the device to reach temperature (5-30 seconds)
- Inhale slowly through the mouthpiece
- Rotate the carb cap to control airflow
- Continue inhaling until vapor diminishes
Session Tips
- Start with lower temperatures and increase as needed
- Longer, slower draws produce smoother vapor
- The carb cap is essential for proper airflow
- Clean the insert while warm for easy maintenance
Water Filtration
Proper Water Level
- Remove the glass attachment
- Fill with clean, room temperature water
- Level should be 1-2cm above the percolator holes
- Do not overfill—this causes splashback
Water Guidelines
| Level | Result |
|---|---|
| Too low | Insufficient filtration, harsh hits |
| Correct | Smooth, cooled vapor |
| Too high | Water splashes into mouth |
Water Tips
- Change water daily for best flavor
- Room temperature water works best
- Empty water when not in use
- Never use hot water (risk of thermal shock)
Using the Drop Tool
The included Drop heated loading tool makes concentrate handling easier:
Drop Operation
- Turn on the Drop (5 clicks)
- Select heat level (low or high)
- Dip the tip into your concentrate
- The heated tip melts and holds the concentrate
- Touch the tip to the insert to deposit
- Turn off the Drop when finished
When to Use Drop
- Sticky concentrates that cling to cold tools
- Precise loading of small amounts
- Transfer from containers to insert
- Any time you want cleaner loading
